“I tried this a few years ago on Windows to use my main camera feed and swap via OBS to screen sharing. Two issues I found: 1) compression of the stream was so nasty nobody could read text - it’s obviously compressed for reasonably static video 2) zoom doesn’t treat my camera feed special - whereas for a shared screen it minimises the cameras down to prioritise the screen share which made it an issue for everyone I was on calls with”
“When i go on the zoom app to open the video it either says "Zoom was not recorded on this computer" (it was) or tells me i need both file "1 and 2" in order to open/download the video.”
“I mean most of us using zoom are using our company accounts and any company willing to add advertising to their zoom accounts are simply not interested in the already self advertising features with custom/company branded background that zoom offers. This is a total shit idea.”
“additionally, i think if i ever opened a zoom call in a business/professional setting and saw a billboard for some crypto company behind the person there’s no way i’m taking them seriously lol.”
“I have a Macbook Pro M5 and I was trying to get on a call but my zoom keeps crashing anytime I open it up after 5 seconds. I tried deleting it and redownloading the zoom app but the same issue persists.”
“**Musicians are especially welcome.** Technically, Zoom can work for playing music if you have the right equipment and settings, although most Friday nights we end up doing a lot more talking than playing.”
“I had the same issue with the 90G but only with Teams/Zoom android OS conference room devices. The android OS had a special DNS it had to reach that was choppy through our DNS filter until we made specific policies”
“As a lawyer he would have exclusively used zoom for his court sessions throughout Covid. I guess those clients weren’t defended bc it was through a TV :/”
“So I changed my default internet as-wan policy to source-ip-based AND created an specific rule for MS-Teams/Skype/Meet/Zoom BEFORE my default internet rule, as to not use load balance for them but instead, to use a manual selection (with the tie-breaker being the order I inserted my SD-WAN members) based on an SLA.”
“And have been having a hardtime managing zoom meetings alone cause there is always an issue of people being unable to join. Im thinking if switching to meet but worry it doesnt look professional”
“I usually create a policy with teams/webex/zoom Internet services as destinations and don't apply any kind of inspection to them. That should be enough.”
“walk in to a screen and a laptop. it is a zoom meeting. threw me off immediately and didn't have the best interview, but no longer interested in the role.”
“I love how it generates a brief summary, bulleted lists of tasks for each person, then a paragraph of main topics. I copy that document into a google doc and share with the team, then delete it from zoom.”
“Considering doing a transatlantic and working while on the cruise, but my job requires lengthy zoom calls. Has anyone done a transatlantic and been able to successfully hold a zoom call without it dropping or having bad connection?”
“We implemented some AI notetaking into Zoom and then handed the AI meeting summaries and follow up tasks into their Act! CRM right after the meeting so nothing was missed. I think alot of small businesses could benefit from AI meeting notes if they haven't already, at least as a good backup to our own forgetfulness.”
“Some people swear 4K is completely wasted because Zoom compresses video anyway, which honestly makes sense. Do you think a mid-tier 1080p webcam with decent ring lighting beats spending extra on a 4K sensor?”
“I've used it for Teams quite a bit, only once for Zoom. The Teams call ran over 2 hours and I was also using the browser at the same time with no issues at all.”
“It's not gonna look "fine" even at crystal clear 1080, making it feel like a shitty zoom call that might as well be in 240p. Unfortunately there is a reason why it's not a cool and totally useable life hack to just crank it down to 12, because it just looks bad.”
“For those who don't know: we both hop on a Zoom call (video on, mic muted), share our screen or just our task list, and work in silence for a set timer (e.g., 50 mins).”
“Would the Neo be able to run longer or frequent Zoom or Teams video calls throughout the day without too much slowdown or heating? Would the Air be better if I want to do this while browsing many tabs?”
