You assemble an interface by dragging tables, forms, charts and buttons onto a canvas, connect it to the databases and APIs you already run - Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, REST, GraphQL and dozens of prebuilt integrations - and wire the two together with SQL and JavaScript queries. Workflows run the same queries on a schedule or a trigger, Retool Database and file storage cover the cases where there is no existing backend, and apps can be built for mobile or embedded in your own product for external users. Billing counts two kinds of people: builders, who create or edit an app during the cycle, and internal users, who only use one. Business is $50 per builder and $15 per internal user monthly when paid annually, or $65 and $18 billed monthly, external users are priced separately from $8 down to $4 at volume, and the whole thing can be self-hosted.
